Community Pie Social

Community Pie Social is a nomadic event designed for residents to talk across differences about topical issues, from education and reproductive rights to the housing crisis and healthcare costs.

Open to the public, the event asks residents to bring only a sweet or savory pie and a willingness to engage in civil dialogue.

Inspired by the work of artist Michael Pribich and the nonprofit Peace Through Pie, Community Pie Social started at Carver Bank—a creative placemaking project by Theaster Gates in collaboration with the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts—in 2017.
